I got this because the blu-ray players are still too expensive.This player works very good, the only thing I don't like is that it does not show the chapter # on the display on the dvd player itself , but if you press the DISPLAY button you can see it on the screen.If you hook up yours through HDMI you also get sound through it on the tv, so no need to run any other wire other than hdmi(mine is hooked up through a receiver). You get a nice blue led light as well.I got a Phillips model 1 day before this one then replaced it with this sony one because it did not have a fiber optic out for the sound and when I tried to hook up the red/white rca to the receiver , my speakers and especially the sub made a very loud humming noise (the picture wasn't as good either). With the fiber optic , it IS perfect !!!!!!!"Get it, you won't regret it" .
